Christmas Tree

I finally got my tree up and I like it.  I created a western theme this year--all handmade decorations.

For the skirt I used a piece of ticking fabric and then wrapped the tree stand with bandanna print.

These are sunflower wreaths made with barbed wire I found by the roadside.

The coyotes are made of cinnamon and applesauce dough, cut with a cookie cutter and dried in a warm oven.  A triangle of plaid fabric makes the scarf.

Little pouches contain potpourri.  A square of bandanna print was gathered around a measure of potpourri, tied with a leather thong, and trimmed with a branch of pine.

Straw cowboy hats from the craft store trimmed with a silk poinsettia and raffia bows trimmed with holly complete the ornaments.  I used a tiny star garland and bunches of multicolored LED lights.

1. Tomorrow I'm going to _________?
Go to the post office and mail the Christmas packages to my relatives

2. Pudding or Jello?
Pudding and to be more specific Chocolate Pudding.

3. What book are you currently reading?
I'm finishing The Big Ben Mystery by Fernando Trujillo (it's confusing so far, don't know if I like it) and on a more serious note  "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus" a compilation of writings by noted Bible teachers preparing me for Christmas.

4. What is the first concert you went to see?
Bill Gaither Trio in the 60's.  Their youngest child was a toddler, and came on stage unannounced in the middle of a concert--a memorable event.

5. What is your current weather?
58 degrees and partly cloudy at 7 p.m.

  1. Your tree turned out so pretty! My daughters and I made some applesauce and cinnamon ornaments several years ago and we always hang them on our tree...they smell so good!

  2. I loved themed trees... probably because my ornament collection is so big and crazy that I will never have one.

  4. Love the western theme you've got there! And so nice that all the ornaments are homemade! Oh, does your Big Ben mystery take place in London, or is that just a lure to get Britophiles to read the book? :-)
