Candle of Love

Today we light the fourth Advent candle.  It is the candle of LOVE.
The mystery of His love was kept secret for ages, but now revealed to Mary by the angel Gabriel sent by God,  "Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God's favour. Listen! You are to conceive and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High."
We light this candle to remind us how Jesus, the light of the world, came to show us God's love. It is also called the Angel’s Candle because it was they who shared their adoration for a coming Messiah.

“For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and who loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing. You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
– Deuteronomy 10:17-19a

Advent is a time for kindness, thinking of others, and sharing with others. It is a time to love as God loved us by giving us his most precious gift. As God is love, let us be love also.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
– John 13:34-35

  1. It doesn't surprise me that all the commandments are summed up in one--love one another. It's the toughest of all but through His grace, it is possible.
Hope you're enjoying your Sunday evening.
