Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. George Washington-Abraham Lincoln-Thomas Jefferson...who would you most like to meet and why?
Abraham Lincoln.  Although from humble beginnings, he overcame hardships to get an education, go into public service, then lead the country through some of it's darkest times.

2. What's your favorite chain restaurant?

PF Changs.  Love the variety of Chinese foods.

3. I spied this question on the Bears at Home blog last week and she gave me permission to steal borrow it-

When you look back on your life, do you imagine you'll think about the goals you failed to meet with regret? Or will you look at what you accomplished and say: it was good?
Forgetting those things that are behind, I press toward the mark for the prize. Although I have failed at times, and things have not worked out as expected, I have learned lessons that have helped me to grow.

4. Grapefruit-take 'em or leave 'em? Given the choice between an orange and a grapefruit which would you choose? Would you prefer it served as is or squeezed into juice?
I would take an orange picked right off my backyard tree.  I do like grapefruit fresh off the tree, but they are a bit tart for me, my tree is a red grapefruit. So, I prefer oranges just pealed.

5. When was the last time you cleaned out a closet? Is there a closet in your home that currently needs cleaning? What are you waiting for?
I have two closets that need cleaning.  But it's not their time yet.  I am waiting for a sign when to do it.

6. You get to have lunch with three famous people...who would you like to see round your table?
Mother Teresa--In 1979 she received the Nobel Peace Prize. Working for people who were not of her race, religion or nationality, Mother Teresa had transcended all barriers. "With her message she is able to reach through to something innate in every human kind--- if for no other purpose than to create a potential, a seed for good."
Neil Armstrong--In 1969 Armstrong became the first person to touch the Moon's surface, he spoke the unforgettable phrase, "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind"
Statue of Sacagawea at Whitney Gallery of Western Art in Cody, Wyoming
Lewis And Clark and Sacagawea--Their Expedition (1804–1806) was the first transcontinental expedition to the Pacific Coast by the United States. They were accompanied by a fifteen-year-old Shoshone Indian woman, Sacagawea, the wife of a French-Canadian fur trader.

7. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your ability to parallel park?
It depends on what I am driving.  My car I do a real good job--a nine; the truck, that is a different story.  It is just way too long, so I would have to give me a 4 parking it.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I treated myself today, after my mammogram, I decided to get my hair styled.  It was looking awful, so I used some of my income tax refund, and went to Tony & Guy's.  It is a sassy cut, and I feel so much better.  It is surprising how pampering yourself can give your spirits a lift.  Now, I am ready to take on the world.

  1. I always have to talk myself into pampering myself. I used to put me last on the list, but I have come to find out that it is ok to treat myself special every once in awhile.

    Good for you!

  3. PF Changs...y'know, we have one here in Corpus, but we have yet to dine there. I know I've seen their 'brand' in the frozen food sections of the grocery stores...but I figure it'd taste much better fresh!!

  5. My hubs would say Neil Armstrong I think. A haircut and/or color lifts my mood dramatically. It does make me feel kinda like I can rule the world : )

  6. I'll have my mammogram done in July. This will be my second one ever. My first experience wasn't too great, but I got through it. At least now I know what I'm up against, but that's been 10-years ago. I hope things haven't changed too much. Oh I really need to do something with my hair! I like PF Chang's, too. Yum!

  12. Hair cuts to help so much. We have been doing Lewis and Clark just this last week, as we are at that point in History, Thomas Jefferson. I want so badly to go take a vacation and travel that route.
I hope you and your grandson are doing better. I was just thinking about you today.

  13. I need a haircut, starting to lose my bangs! I'd love to have a grapefruit tree in my backyard. I might even have survived the winter this year...maybe not. We had a few insanely cold nights, just little snow for Ohio. Not that I mind!
