Movies, Cupcakes, and Gifts

friday favorite things | finding joy
Favorite things this past week--
I had a fun weekend with a couple of my girl friends.  First of all we saw a movie--One for the Money.
Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past.
Stars: Katherine Heigl, Jason O'Mara and Daniel Sunjata

Debbie Reynolds played the feisty grandma in this light adventure comedy. A good matinee film.

Then it was off for a fun lunch at Oregano's where they serve Chicago style pizza.  We sat on the patio and enjoyed the spring like weather and delicious pizza.

And no day would be complete without a little dessert.  We stopped at Sprinkles Cup Cakes in Scottsdale
I brought home a big chocolate chip peanut butter cupcake, so rich that just half of it made the perfect dessert.  The other half?  Why for breakfast, of course.

Is there anything more fun than getting a surprise in the mail?  Today the mail man left a package at my door and it had MY name on it!
I tell you, I put those grandkids to shame ripping into it. I tore open the package, and inside was a sweet card, tag and two, yes I said two, wrapped gifts.
After the obligatory photo
I made short work of the bright pink sparkly paper and I found
A purple bag with tea, biscotti, and a couple of tea candies
A lovely handmade tag bookmark
Notepad with the Eiffel tower
and a beautiful journal with inspiring thoughts
Thank you so much Secret Blogging Sister.  You are the best!

  1. I have always wanted to try a Sprinkles cupcake. I'm not even sure if they make a gluten free one -- we'll watch Cupcake Wars sometimes and the founder of Sprinkles is a judge. The girls and I always talk about the day when we finally get to go to Sprinkles.

Thanks for linking with Friday Favorites and for your super sweet and encouraging words.

  6. Thanks for the heads up on the One for the Money review. I'll keep this one in mind when it comes out on DVD. Oh heavens, that pizza looks so yummy! Yikes, I forgot to visit Hilary's meme today. I'm so messed up this week. My DH is to blame, but I love him all the same. He's been down and now I'm coming down with it. Blah!

  7. What a wonderful gift from your Secret Blogging Sister!

I agree with you on coffee VS tea. The smell of a coffee shop is pure intoxication!

  8. I'm torn when it comes to coffee and tea. I love both equally. I need coffee to get my day started and I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee. But at the end of the day I so enjoy a cup of tea. :)

  9. Oh the movie sounds good. Hubby wanted to see it but I'm sure we'll wait till it comes on DVD as we don't much time to see movies. The only theater close to us is not that big and the really nice one is about an hour from us. The pizza and cupcake sound yummy!! But more "yummy" is sitting on the patio! Enjoy your weekend!

  11. I prefer coffee to tea too, unless the coffee isn't good (like in my office) I am a coffee snob!

  12. I've read all of Evanovich's books and want to see "One for the Money" so much. I'll probably have to wait for the DVD, though. The hubs isn't much for chick flicks and none of my friends are into her.

  13. Can't wait to see "One for the Money" ... even DH likes to read Evanovich's books; we love Grandma Mazur (sp?)!

Yours sounds like the perfect recipe for a delicious day.
