What ever Happened to the King's English?

My 20 year old grandson who lives with me is always telling me, "I don't know what you are talking about, Gramma."
And it is no wonder.  Back when I went to school (that would be the dark ages), English was a pretty straight-forward language.  How things have changed!  I'd like to share three new words that were officially added to the dictionary--bff, omg, lol.
I made ATC's to celebrate these words.  (For those unfamiliar with the genre, Artist Trading Cards (or ATCs) are miniature works of art  2 ½ X 3 ½ inches, made in any medium.  They can be traded, never sold.  They offer the artist a chance to present a snapshot of an idea.)  I covered the card base with duct tape (the pretty snazzy updated kind), attached foam letters, and rub-ons. Then finished it off with a touch of stickles glitter around the edges.  Very modern as suits the new words.

Speaking of modern, without the modern Urban dictionary, I have no idea what my grandson is talking about. How times have changed, or am I just getting old?

  3. Thanks for your comment, I used to make all of my Christmas presents too. I kind of have the itch to try it this year. I keep thinking of making quilts for my married kids. I still haven't made up my mind.
It is nice you have your 20 year old grandson living with you.
I hope you have a nice day.

  5. I think it's both....but they really aren't words...they're intitials. I guess we have to learn the lingo, but we don't have to like it, right? I'm getting old right along with you! :)

    Blessings,

  7. I would have to say, that after God, number seven would be my favorite. When you are surrounded by things you love, if you are down, you can draw inspiration and happiness thinking about them. I make memory books filled with thoughts and happenings from my life. They make it so easy to relive the good times. I am a decade past 60, but I am mentally about 45, that's in my own mind, of course. I thank God for good health. So physical age is irrelevant. "For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Eccl 3:1

You are not a decade past 60 - you look a decade before 60.
I love those verse in Ecclesiastes too.
And I do believe without God - nothing in that list would be possible.
