I'm sure we all have a favorite cook book that we automatically reach for, one that has our tried and true recipes--family favorites. My most favorite thing to bake is cookies. I love to try new recipes, but then I have those old standbys. For those directions, I reach for my Betty Crocker's Cooky Book--1963 Hardback Spiral Bound. It has hundreds of cookie recipes, helpful hints, and historical notes.
I am baking snickerdoodles, the cookie jar is empty again.
As you can see this page is well used. I am sure that there are slick new cookie books, but I love this one. I've had it over 40 years, and it is comfortable like a favorite pair of slippers.
I have that cookbook, too! And even though I have newer cookie cookbooks with a lot more recipes, I always go to my Betty Crocker!
ReplyDeleteThat cookbook looks well-used! Hope your cookies come out delicious and you have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think my mom had this book. And I have no idea where it is now. Isn't it great to have a favorite cookie cookbook! I better not make cookies tonight. I made banana nut muffins last night and they were way too good.
ReplyDeleteI am with you - I LOVE cookies too. sandie
ReplyDeleteI have that cookbook too-maybe the first cookbook I got after I got married. My cover fell completely off but I still use a lot of the recipes.
ReplyDeleteYep, Betty's snickerdoodles are the best.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmmm.....snickerdoodles. I think that's the best cookie ever. Even over chocolate chip which I like but not the chocolate chips. :)
