1. What is a pet peeve you have when vacationing?
Hotels that advertise Continental breakfasts that consist of old bagels and watered down orange juice.
2. Would you describe yourself as a light packer or do you need everything in your closet plus the kitchen sink?
Definitely light, I take one small carry on for a two week vacation, and not smell bad when I get back home. The secret is color coordination and mix and match.
3. What's the best lesson a child ever taught you?
The eyes are the window to the soul. I was trying to rest when my two year old daughter lifted my eyelid and said, "Mommy, are you in there?"
4. Share one piece of advice you'd give a recent graduate as they attempt to enter the job market?
Be early for interviews, be conservative, and prepare to work hard, they don't owe you anything.
5. What's your favorite lemon something?
Lemon curd--This sweet, yet tart, velvety spread is heavenly on freshly baked scones, muffins, and tea breads. Another favorite is serving lemon curd on gingerbread or used as a filling for tarts and cakes. Lemon curd can add a special touch to your favorite desserts and tea time goodies.
6. Flat sandal, wedge, heel...your favorite footwear?
How about tennis shoes.
7. What do you like best about a beach holiday? If you're not a beach lover (GASP!!)
what do you dislike the least?
Being able to sit and watch the waves roll in, the fresh seafood, the chance to dream where the water has been and what it has seen.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I love vacations at the beach, but also in the Rocky Mountains. So this year I am going to experience both.
This is such a fun idea! I am going to play along too :) I also hate when continental breakfasts are sub-par. And I dont think I have ever had lemon curd (gasp!) Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI'm so with you on #7.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the beach, but the mountains certainly have a distinctive majestic beauty that I loved more than I thought I would. Still, my preference is definitely for the beach. ;-)
you just reminded me that I love love love lemon curd!! I first tasted it as I ordered "The Queens Lunch" at tea shoppe here in Missouri ... and it was there with the clotted cream for our scones and such. SO good!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's comment is so precious. We have a few of those, too. Kids do say the darnest things, don't they? Thanks for visiting! =D
ReplyDeleteLove your #3 and the Lemon Curd sounds divine. I'll have to check into that. I was raise in Santa Fe surrounded by the mountains. It's in my soul.
ReplyDeleteGood point about employers not owing you anything! It seems we are getting more and more into an entitlement society.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely can't beat a good pair of tennis shoes! Oh, how I love the Rockies! Seen them a couple of times and am dying to go back. Nothing prettier!
ReplyDeleteDo you think it's possible that we were twins separated at birth? lol I can totally relate to all your responses except the last one. I'd rather be walking along a winding road in Yorkshire. :-)
ReplyDeleteContinental brekfast is usually out for me because it's all carbs! Bagles, muffins, toast, english muffins and juice. Sometimes it has scrabled eggs but not very often. I find it hard to get a good meal out of them. I've never had Lemon Curd but it looks good.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest thing for me is the cleanliness of the room! I cannot stand to see a hotel room that is not properly cleaned. Good for you for 2 vacations! Hope you have a nice time!
ReplyDeleteWell, it is hard to beat a good pair of tennis shoes at times.
ReplyDeleteI love the mountains too, so great that you get to do both this year.
I do love Lemon Curd and have had it on Gingerbread and enjoyed that too.
Happy Wednesday!
The beach AND the mountains = Awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI've only tried lemon curd once, but it was wonderful! Beach or mountains, I couldn't decide either and when I went to Myrtle Beach the first time, I drove through the mountains to get there. Definitely a vacation of much eye candy!
ReplyDeleteI put on my tennies today for a shopping trip that required lots of walking. They weren't as pretty as the other gals I saw in their cute little flipflops, but I bet my feet didn't hurt as much as theirs did by the end of the day!
ReplyDeleteOh that's great...eyes are the window to the soul. Blessed you to be taking two vacations this year. The mountains and the ocean...sounds like the best plan.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm craving a scone with lemon curd. I love it too!
ReplyDeleteTrying to catch up a little...it's slow going. Have a nice week : )
