Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. It's that most wonderful time of the year...tax season! Do you complete your own returns or farm that job out to the professionals?
I do my own taxes, using Turbo Tax.  In fact, I did them this past Saturday, and sent them out.

2. This next question comes from Kansas Bob...he posed it in his response to something I asked in an earlier Wednesday post and I asked him if I could add it to the Hodgepodge some day. Today's the day....
Which do you think has changed you more-love or pain?
I would have to say pain.  But that pain was brought about because of the death of love.

3. Tangerine Tango has been named color of the year for 2012. Your thoughts? Would I find this color anywhere in your house? How about in your closet? If not, will you be adding this color to your life in some way in 2012? If you're not sure what tangerine tango looks like click here.
I love the vibrancy of orange, but I cannot wear it, I might add hints of it in accessories.

4. Are you a collector? What do you collect and does it get admired, used, and/or dusted regularly?
I am a collector.  I collect so many things--chickens, watermelons, miniatures.  I also collect cream pitchers.  I love so many of the china patterns, depression glass, pottery so I gave one piece to remind me of their beauty.  As for dusting, they get it when I think they need it.

5. February is National Heart Month...besides a green salad what is one tasty heart healthy dish you like to prepare?

Grilled fish.

6. When was the last time you had car trouble?
About a month ago, a radiator hose broke, but I was parked in the driveway of a mechanic when it happened, so it got fixed in no time.  I expect to have problems, since the car is a 1995 Ford Contour.

7. Have you been more demanding on yourself lately or less? Is that a good trend?
Less--As I get older, I realize that I need to enjoy life more.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I have the gardening bug.  I got some herbs from Home Depot, and put in a few flowers in some of my containers.  For me that is the first sign of spring.

  1. You've inspired me to go get some herb seeds!! Mine have mostly dwindled since bringing the pots in last fall. I can certainly understand collecting chickens! They're so homey and CUTE!

  2. Are you planting outside? Where do you live at? Can't do that here yet.

  3. I can't wait to start gardening! With as warm as it's been here lately, I have a feeling that it won't be much longer...hopefully!

  4. My mother in law collects cream pitchers and keeps them on the top of her kitchen cabinets. It's been unseasonably warm here this winter but is still too early to catch the gardening bug. We have the possibility of snow on Sunday. I guess we probably need it to get us thru the summer but I've enjoyed the balmier temps.

  5. You've filed your taxes already? We're still waiting on all our forms ... but I have Turbo Tax installed on my computer, ready to go whenever all our forms come in. We usually get a small amount back, but I think going back to work last year may end up requiring us to owe taxes as it doesn't look like the University withheld enough in taxes. :-( I LOVE grilled fish ... that reminds me that there's some tilapia in the freezer that I need to thaw out and prepare! ;-) Yummy! It's way too early to plant flowers or herbs - at least in the outdoor pots. I won't even think about doing that until later in April.

  7. I think that the gardening bug must be going around. Maybe it has something to do with us having NO winter!

  8. Good morning Marti.....I loved this post as it told us s little more about you and your wonderful personality. As an aside....I love orange....and have tangerine orange in my house for quite sometime....it can be overwhelming so just little touches of it here and there are best.

I'm really not a collector of anything special....although....I do try to collect anything beautiful to feather my nest.

    Have a sweet day

  9. I love these random posts. If you go to those color charts orange is one of MY colors. I only wear bits of it in Fall...but when I DO wear it people come up and tell me how GOOD I look...lol.

I collect more things that I will admit to! xoDiana

  10. Your car is older than the one I drive (a 99 Buick Century) but newer than my toy car (94 Camaro). I expect things to happen, but pray the don't!

With the unseasonable weather this winter, I wonder how my perennials will be affected. You'll have to post pictures as the flowers bloom!

  13. It's too cold for gardening at the moment. I wanted it to be warmer today, but it wasn't. I have started to receive the catalogs however and I love looking at them.

  14. Well, it appears that Spring is just around the corner here in NE La. But, I doubt it is, probably just teasing us. Blessings for a great rest of the week.
